Libyan and Chad leaders may be revising 'merger'

Libyan strong man Muammar alQaddafi and Chad President Goukhouni Woddei met to plan a joint response to worldwide opposition to the planned merger of their countries. A senior Libyan Information Ministry official said there was no plan for "political unity" between the two countries, only a "unity between the people. . . ."

Colonel Qaddafi and Mr. Woddei discussed moves to confront France's deployment of troops in the neighboring Central African Republic and the Sudan.Libya warned France that any "stupid move" would bring an oi l embargo and economic boycott.
