FCC votes to ease rules on radio ads and fare

Consumer and church groups wasted no time challenging the Federal Communications Commission's decision to deregulate portions of the radio industry. Acting on one of the most controversial decisions it has faced, the FCC voted to ease programming guidelines and eliminated advertising restrictions for the nation's commercial radio stations. The new rules also scrapped a requirement for the inclusion to community issues, as well as for program logs. While the National Association of Broadcasters favors deregulation, consumers and c hurch groups want them retained.
