January 12, 1981

Fresno's California Power & Light Corporation announced recently it will add three more energy plants somewhere in California to its new biomass power-production industry by 1983.

The utility reported plans last July to build the first such plant, costing $ 110 million, by the end of 1982 at Madera. Pacific Gas & Electric Company has 25-year contract to buy power from this first plant and is expected also under the Public Utility Regulatory Policy Act to market the electr icity from the additional three plants being planned.
