Soviet interpreter defects from troop-reduction talks

A top Soviet interpreter at the Vienna East-West force-reduction talks has defected to West Germany, intelligence sources said, but there was disagreement over the quality of information he carried. Sources described the defector, Viktor Korolyuk, as "a man who can tell us a lot." But informed sources said it was unlikely that the defector had access to any secrets. There was no confirmation of a newspaper report that Mr. Korolyuk brought with him a packet of secret docum ents on Soviet negotiating tactics with the West.
