Leonard Ternovsky, a campaigner against alleged abuses of psychiatry in the Soviet Union, was sentenced to three years imprisonment on a charge of slandering the state, dissident sources said. MR. Ternovsky, arrested last April, was involved with other dissidents in an unofficial committee that monitored alleged misuse of psychiatric hospitals by the authorities to detain people of unorthodox views. Last week Alexander Lavut, another dissident involved with the group, was given a three-year sentence on the same charge at a separate trial.
