Reagan taps Nofziger as political liaison

December 24, 1980

President-elect Ronald Reagan will name Franklyn (Lyn) Nofziger as assistant to the president for political affairs, a Reagan spokesman announced Tuesday. Mr. Nofziger is a longtime Reagan associate and served as press secretary during the presidential campaign, but declined after the election to take on the job of White House press spokesman.

The announcement said Mr. Nofziger would provide political advice and liaison with the Republican National Committee the Senate and House campaign committees, and "other representative organizations."
