Iran and Iraq expected at OPEC meeting in Bali

December 8, 1980

Iran and Iraq will attend a Dec. 15 OPEC meeting in Bali, Indonesia, despite their 11-week-old war, Indonesian Energy Minister Subroto said. After talks with Belkacem Nabi, Algeria's oil minister and OPEC president, Dr. Subroto said he was sure all 13 OPEC members would attend. Asked if the war might be discussed, he said, "We could not prevent nonoil problems from being brought up. But I am convinced all members are of the opinion that we must limit our talks to OPEC's problems of administration and the questions of oil supply and demand." He would not say if he thought oil prices would be increased.
