Iraqi-Turk oil pipeline humming at full capacity

December 3, 1980

The iraqi-Turkish oil pipelines is pumping at full capacity -- around 100,000 metric tons a day -- Turkish oil industry sources said. They said tankers were waiting in line to load at the pipeline terminal at Yumurtalik, on Turkey's Mediterranean coast. Pumping along the 600-mile pipeline from northern Iraq resumed Nov. 20 after a nine-week break causedby Iranian bombing attacks on the Iraqi pumping stations. It has since been going at a higher capacity than before the Gulf conflict, when an average 68,000 tons a day came through.
