Palme sees little hope for early end to war

UN envoy Olof Palme returned to New york to brief UN Secretary-Genv eral Kurt Waldheim on his apparently inconclusive week-long mission to mediate the two-month-old Guld war. "I can see an end to the war, but the conflict is deep and the differences are great," he said at the airport here. "My view that we should not expect rapid results has been confirmed."
