Libyan forces reported intervening in Chad row

November 6, 1980

An Israeli radio monitor reported that heavily armed Libyan troops, supported by artillery and rocket-firing helicopters, have moved into northern Chad and now control an area up to 125 miles inside the border. The Libyan forces, including two infantry divisions and armored units, were being directed by the head of state, Col. Muammar al-Qaddafi, who had set up his headquarters in a frontline position near the border.
