A judge ordered that Zimbabwe Manpower Planning minister Edgar Tekere be tried for murder, brushing aside arguments that the high court had no jurisdiction in his case. But defense lawyers immediately protested the decision in the appeal court, due to rule nov. 4. The defense contends that the minister is protected by a law drawn up by the former white minority government giving immunity from prosecution to government leaders acting to suppress terrorism.
