Top execs are early birds at work

While most of the nation's work force is just showing up for work, chief executive officers of leading corporations have already completed their most productive time of day.

When it comes to productivity, chief executives eschew the normal 9 a.m.-5 p.m. workday, according to a survey by Omega Watch Corporation, opting instead for the early morning hours.

About 43 percent of the survey participants, all leaders of Fortune 500 corporations, selected the pre-9 a.m. time period as their most productive time of day. eighteen percent cited the time after 5 p.m. as their most productive hours, while only 3 percent chose the lunch hour. Only 36 percent prefer the normal business day, and morning hours were favored 3 to 1 over the afternoon for these traditionalists.
