Financiers' art collection gets $16 million at auction

Forty-one paintings and sculptures from the collection of the late Franco- American financier, Andre Meyer, were auctioned off for $16 million, setting record prices for works by Renoir, Degas, Daumier, Vuillard, Donnard, and Fantin-Latour. A Canadian collector paid $1.6 million for Renoir's "The Little Gypsy Girl."
