In many of the key states that could go to either major candidate, Reagan is more popular among men than among women. According to a CBS-New York Times poll released over the weekend, women in Texas, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Ohio prefer Carter, while Reagan holds the edge among men. In California, too, preference for Reagan is far higher among men than among women.

There is also a higher percentage of undecided voters among women in these states, meaning that how this group leans in coming weeks could be decisive.m
