5 neo-Nazis are freed in Munich bomb case

West German authorities have freed five neo-Nazis who had been held on suspicion of involvement in the Munich Oktoberfest bombing which killed 12 people and injured 213. Those released included Karl-Heinz Hoffmann, leader of an outlawed right-wing extremist organization. A member of the group, Gundolf Kohler, was one of the bombing victims. Investigators believe he planted the bomb and was killed when it went off prematurely. But the prosecutor's office said it had non immediate evidence to implicate Mr. Hoffmann and the other released members of his group.
