Turks work to repair oil line from Iraq

Turkish workmen are trying to repair an oil pipeline from northern Iraq to the Mediterranean which was punctured by a bomb apparently planted by ethnic Kurdish guerrillas. Oil industry sources say the pipeline could take up to a week to repair.

The bomb blast came the same day Prime Minister Bulent Ulusu unveiled the ruling junta's political and economic program for the nation. The program includes wiping out terrorism, firing bureaucrats, rewriting the Constitution, and remaining loyal to NATO. The speech was the first formal declaration of the policies of the government formed last week by the junta that seized power Sept. 12.
