Iranian leaders avert hassle over Cabinet nominations

Tehran, Iran
An open row between Iran's President and prime minister over the Cabinet was headed off Tuesday when parliament postponed a confirmation debate. Prime Minister Muhammad Ali Rajai appeared briefly at the Majlis, after talking late into the night with President Abolhassan Bani-sadr, to say the President wanted more time to study some nominations. Many of those named to the Cabinet by Mr. Rajai are young and relatively inexperienced revolutionaries, and Mr. Bani- sadr has openly challenged their fitness for office.
