Seoul says universities an reopen after ban

South Korea's Martial Law Command lifted a May 17 order Thursday that closed all universities after violent antigovernment street demonstrations. It said the universities could resume classes on Monday. The ban affected about 330,000 students at 85 universities, including Seoul National University and Yonsei University, focal points of the demonstrations. The Martial Law Command closed the universities and colleges at the same time as it introduced total martial law and arrested dissidents and severl alleged corrupt politicians.
