Zimbabwe premier urges US to give more aid

August 25, 1980

Prime Minister Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe has called on the United States to give his country much more economic aid than it has so far offered. But he declined to say how much aid he would seek in talks with President Carter on Wednesday.

The US has committed $20 million to help reconstruct the former Rhodesia, and the Carter administration has promised to seek $30 million more from Congress next year.
