Kuwait will have a 50-member elected parliament under a decree published by the emir, Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmed al-Sabah, saying the national assembly should meet by next February. The previous emir dissolved the assembly in 1976, after 15 years of parliamentary rule, saying it was serving sectional and private interests and hampering the work of the government. His decree said parliament should return within four years.
