Summer briefs for dog-day afternoons; It's all right to talk but skating?

August 18, 1980

The public library here, just off the historic old Plaza, is enormously active, and provides, along with maps, books, music, tapes, etc., a community bulletin board. (Adobe in or near Santa Fe for school year in exchange for professor's $150,000 glass-walled modern in Columbus, Ohio; Am hiking in Yellowtone, take two riders; Yoga at 5).

There is a strategically-placed sign, though, which loudly prolaims: NO SKATING IN THE LIBRARY.

Talking, however, is permitted.
