That Lemonade Stand

August 15, 1980

A monarch butterfly and a lemonade stand once sat along the farm's rock-rutted road near amber waves of wheat and a 1929 Ford tractor. Andrea Lange and I at age eleven sold lemonade at that stand on which Thomas Wren painted a large monarch butterfly in blue and yellow. That lemonade stand earned us six dollars and forty-two cents from neighbors, and captivating stories recounted by Sister Clara Cherch. That lemonade stand which Fritsiman Lange crafted from barnwood with its three white-washed sides and proud summit, Herbly Moore totaled in his Stutz.
