Many general-aviation airports in the Northeast, unable to buy aviation fuel, may soon be forced to shut down, the New Jersey director of aeronautics says. Some airports, primarily handling small planes, have already had to close down temporarily when monthly fuel allocations ran out and other suppliers refused to handle new customers. General-aviation gasoline fuels some 208,000 non-jet aircraft in the United States.
