A federal judge cleared the way for the beginning of the first trial to arise from the Abscam affair, and jury selection was scheduled to begin Monday in US District Court in Brooklyn.

Democratic Rep. Michael Myers of Pennsylvania, Mayor Angelo Errichetti of Camden, N.J., Philadelphia City Councilman Louis Johanson, and Philadelphia lawyer Howard Criden are charged with taking bribes from FBI agents posing as sheikhs in return for special favors.
