The Greek government says further measures are necessary to protect the Acropolis from the effects of air pollution -- despite the fact that air quality has recently improved here.

It plans to relocate several industrial plants in the area, gradually replace domestic use of fuel oil by natural gas in the vicinity, introduce electric trolley buses, ban parking for trucks and tourist buses, and reroute other buses. The government has already banned the establishment of new indutries near the Acropolis.
