To Russia, with jeans

A Turin-based Italian company, Maglificio Calzificio Torinese, has been awarded a $100 million contract to produce blue jeans and jackets in the soviet Union. The arrangement requires the Italian company to set up a plant and provide training to produce a goal of more than 7 million units under license by 1985.

Company spokesmen noted that blue jeans are in heavy demnd in the USSR, often carrying unofficial single prices of $75 or more.
