Benjamin Hooks, executive director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and Carl Holman, president of the National Urban Coalition, sent a telegram to Attorney General Benjamin Civiletti last week asking for a meeting to discuss racial tensions in the nation's cities and the resurgence of the Ku Klux Klan and other "lawless elements," the 16-member Black Leadership Forum said Monday. The groups are also unhappy about the lack of progress in the investigation of last month's assassination attempt against Vernon Jordan, national president of the Urban League. The FBI says it has no suspects in the shooting.
