Saudi Arabia and Britain repair broken ties

July 29, 1980

Saudi Arabia and Britain Monday agreed to restore full diplomatic relations, ending a four-month row over the filming of the controversial television film "Death of a Princess." British Ambassador James Craig will return to Saudi Arabia and the new Saudi ambassador, Sheikh Nasser Al-Mankoor, will shortly take up his post in London.

Relations between the two countries deteriorated sharply in April when the film, which depicted the execution of a Saudi princess convicted of adultery, was shown on British television over Saudi objections.
