Surge in sales of computer chips seen

July 24, 1980

The market for microprocessors, the tiny chips at the heart of computers, will more than triple by 1983, according to a study by International Data Corporation. The value of shipments will swell from last year's $738 million to economy during 1980.

The recession is already affecting the microprocessor market in the form of declining delivery times. In 1981, if the economic picture brightens, there will be a sharp upturn in microprocessor usage.
