US willing to begin missile talks with Soviets

The United States told its NATO allies Tuesday it was ready to begin preliminary talks with the Soviet Union on limiting European-based nuclear missiles. US Deputy Secretary of State Warren Christopher told the NATO Council it would be a formidable task to prepare for the negotiations.
