A United States federal judge, acting in defiance of a presidential order, held a hearing Thursday for insurance companies seeking $35 million of Iran's frozen assets. Assistant Attorney General Alice Daniel, head of the Justice Department's civil division, asked US District Judge George Hart not to decide the case.
