Inner eye

July 9, 1980

When I observe the way a seed answers its inherent need to enlarge upon itself; when I watch a tree expand, like a great green-fingered hand reaching always up and up; when I see the subtle power %of a fragile-petaled flower pushing through a concrete walk; when I notice how squirrel folk gather acorns from the oak to store against the winter cold; When I glimpse a woodwise deer become as if it were not there, blending brown with autumn leaf;

when i watch the bird's swift wings, and a thousand other things . . . my inner eye is seeing God.
