Barbara Timm, the mother of a hostage held in Tehran, is expected to travel to Iran shortly with her husband and lawyer, US officials said Wednesday. President Carter has banned travel to Iran, but an exception was made for the Timms on humanitarian grounds to allow them to appeal for the release of the hostages, the State Department said. Mrs. Timm visited her son, Marine Sgt. Kevin Hermening, at the US Embassy in Iran in April.
