Three plead innocent in labor bribery case

Carlos Marcello, a reputed underworld boss, and two others pleaded innocent Tuesday to racketeering, bribery, and conspiracy charges in the government "Brilab" investigation. US Magistrate Ingard O. Johannesen, who set bond at $35 ,000 each, gave a tentative trial date of July 28.
Mr. Marcelo was arraigned with I. Irving Davidson, a consultant from Washington, and Vincent Marinello, a New Orleans-area lawyer. A fourth defendant, Charles Roemer, a former Louisiana State commissioner of administration, was set for arraignment Wednesday.
They were indicted after an investigation of influence-peddling and corruption in labor organizations and politics conducted through the use of bugs , wiretaps, and an undercover FBI informant.
