My river drifts by in serenity, Its ripples curve in layers, roll in bond As linked in space, they form a unity Like lillies on a flowered dulcet pond. The tranquil water safeguards deep set roots, Uphold their stems, floats blossoms in suspense. Wind sweeps across the nearby shore, and flutes smooth surfaces, stirs waves to violence. The ruffled waters flutter, shake and weave, Unable to retain an ordered state. I call on nature's counter currents to retrieve The status quo I would perpetuate. It is my given task to quiet storms And dedicate a truce true to my norms.
