Ontario forests decimated by campfires, lightning

Eighty-four fires sweeping across Ontario's forests have have destroyed millions of acres of trees and forced the evacuation of 6,000 residents, officials said Monday. About 20,000 firefighters and support staff had been thrown into the province-wide effort by Sunday. No lives have been lost. The blazes, caused by careless campers, lightning, and sparks from railway cars, have found plentiful fuel from a hot, dry spring that followed a winter of light snows.
