More volcanic debris from new St. Helens eruption

Mt. St. Helens shot plumes of steam as high as 11,000 feet into the sky Monday in its first activity since Sunday's eruption that left gritty volcanic ash over thousands of square miles of western Oregon and Washington Thick grey mud rained on the areas, blinding motorists, cutting power lines, blacking out towns, and snapping trees. Roads in the towns of Longview and Kelso, 45 miles west of the volcano, and other nearby areas were turned into mudslides. No injuries hae been reported. Washington state Governor Dixy Lee Ray has signed an order closing a 20-mile radius of the volcano to all unauthorized people.
