May 15, 1980

President Abolhassan Bani-Sadr charged Wednesday that 96 Americans had landed in Iran to carry out acts of sabotage and assassinatons during the next two weeks. He said he received the information from someone in the United States who knew about the alleged sabotage plan. In Washington, a White House spokesman denied the report.

Meanwhile, Iran announced it would hold an international conference June 2-5 "to investigate US interventions" and publicize the aborted US attempt to rescue the US Embassy hostages. The commission meeting was originally scheduled to begin this month. No reason was given for the delay. Names of those invited to the meeting were not given.
