US wants Sohio to raise prices, aid independents

The Energy Department, in an effort to bail out independent Ohio gas stations , Thursday ordered Standard Oil of Ohio to put $14 million in a government escrow account in hopes the company will raise its gasoline prices. The emergency action came after 700 independent ohio gas stations complained to the agency that Sohio stations were driving them out of business by underselling them.
