High court upholds fines for child-labor violations

A unanimous Supreme Court Monday upheld a law allowing the government to impose financial penalties for violations of child-labor laws. Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, employers are barred from "oppressive" child labor, and the government is authorized to impose fines of up to $1,000 for each violation.
