Rosie Ruiz of New York denied Thursday that she cheated to become the top woman finisher in the Boston Marathon Monday. "I'm not guilty," Miss Ruiz, who wore her winning medal, said at a news conference at Manhattan's Summit Hotel. Sobbing, she said she was willing to take a lie detector test to prove she ran the race.

Meanwhile, Jacqueline Gareau of Montreal, who placed second in the women's division of the marathon, flew to Boston Thursday, saying she had been summoned to meet with race organizers.
