Former Maryland Gov. Marvin Mandel Monday lost his bid in the Supreme Court to avoid imprisonment for corruption in office. He could begin serving a four-year prison term this summer. In a brief order, the justices let stand a ruling by the Fourth US Circuit Court affirming Mr. Mandel's 1977 conviction and four-year sentence for bribery and racketeering.
