Cleaning grout -- tile

To the real estate editor: Julia Bristow of Norwalk, Va., wrote about her difficulty in cleaning old tile and grout.

I have had good results using X-14 Instant Mildew Stain Remover which has the Good Housekeeping seal. It is manufactured by White Laboratories Inc., PO Box 15335, Orlando, Fla. 32858.

The discoloration just disappeared after being sprayed on the walls; but on the floor I poured it on when the spray seemed too slow. Also, on the floor it was necesssary to wash it off with water to remove all the discoloration.

My tile is only 15 years old. Maybe older tile would require a second application. Janice Upton Warren, Mich.
