April 9, 1980

The Chrysler Corporation boosted sticker prices across its model lineup an average of $158 Monday, and Volkswagen of America Inc. raised the price of its US-built two-door Rabbit by $220.

General Motors, Ford Motor, and American Motors announced price increases last week.

The action raised average car prices by more than $600 over 1979 models and left the United States without a domestically built car priced at less than $4, 000.
