Do you remember how the winter tree Learned with its weighted bough Until the white beneath Met the descending snow, And we watched the two, The alabaster flow of river to the sea? How the green branch again Sprang to the radiant air And left its living stain Upon the atmosphere? So in the winter mind The hidden thought of love Is shaken in the wind That blows from yesterday, And suddenly are free The music and the dove.
