Boston reporter faces jail on contempt charge

Boston Herald American reporter Paul Corsetti says he is prepared to go to jail rather than obey a Superior Court judge's order to tell a grand jury what he knows about a 1978 murder. Mr. Corsetti was found in contempt of court and ordered to jail Monday by Judge Rudolph Pierce. But the judge delayed the start of the jail term -- which could last through the four- month remainder of the grand-jury session -- until next Monday to give Mr. Corsetti time to appeal.

Mr. Corsetti's lawyer, Thomas Troy, said the appeal would be filed later this week before either the state Supreme Court or the state Appeals Court.
