Kansas City firemen return to their stations

March 24, 1980

Firefighters ended a bitter six-day strike and returned to their posts Saturday night after a judge approved a City Council agreement to reinstate 42 firemen dismissed during a December job slowdown. Police Sgt. Steve Staffer said firefighters began filtering into area fire stations at 11 p.m. central standard time to replace fire- trained policemen who had manned their posts during the strike.
