To the real estate editor: The California Custom Accessories Manufacturing Company, Gardena, Calif. 90249, makes a high-heat coating that is cured by the auto manifold, stove, etc. , and will withstand temperatures in the 1,200-degree range.
It comes in many colors in a pressure spray can and is available at auto parts stores. I've used it on a stovepipe and it has lasted about 10 years.
