Oil-polluted river may soon be clear for use

The city's 14,000 water-starved residents may soon get permission to take drinking water from the Rappahannock River, contaminated by an oil spill 12 days ago.

"The spill itself is beyond the remedies we can apply to it," according to Bob Cibulskis, who coordinated the cleanup for the Environmental Protection Agency. The river is expected to dissolve any remaining globs of oil.
