France endorses role for PLO in peace talks

The French government Wednesday formally endorsed participation of the Palestine Liberation Organization in peace talks and the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, as set out by President Valery Giscard d'Estaing during his recent tour of Persian Gulf states, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The government also said Israel should be able to live within recognized and guaranteed borders.
